Edwards Coaches will continue its centenary celebrations on Sunday 3 August with an open day at the operator’s headquarters at Parc Busnes Edwards in Llantrisant.
The event will run between 1000-1600hrs and entry is free. All are invited to the gathering, which the company says will host activities for all ages. New vehicles from the Edwards fleet will be on display alongside older models, including participants from the Cardiff Transport Preservation Group, which is kindly supporting the celebration.
On the new coach front, a 2025 Mercedes-Benz Tourismo in trademark metallic blue and carrying the operator’s centenary anniversary crest will be present alongside a recently delivered dual-branded Caetano Levante that has been created in partnership with National Express.
It blends both businesses’ brands into a one-of-a-kind approach and will sit alongside a storyboard detailing the design and build process of the coach. Also to be present is the Scania Irizar i8 Red Dragon flagship that serves as Welsh Rugby Union team transport (pictured, top).
At the other end of the age spectrum, a Maudsley single-deck bus from 1931 will be on display. It carries a halfcab Thurgood body from 1948 and has been restored to Edwards Bros of Beddau livery to reflect the current-day business’s proud roots.
Also part of the day will be a programme of entertainment including performances by local choirs, drama groups and community acts.
A vintage fairground will be on site along with local food and drink vendors. Visitors will have the chance to purchase centenary merchandise, and Edwards will have special offers on its UK and European coach holidays.
The adjacent Royal Mint will make two of its car parks available for visitors to the Edwards Coaches centenary event.
