Daish’s Holidays has purchased its first new tri-axle coaches in the form of six Mercedes-Benz Tourismo M/3 examples. They take to 21 the number of new vehicles purchased since 2023 out of a fleet of 35.
The new arrivals represent an investment of £1.7 million by the operator. While they are the first new tri-axles for Daish’s, the business ran some coaches to the same configuration that joined its fleet via the purchase of Robinsons Holidays in late-2020.
All the coaches that came with the Robinsons deal have now been sold by Daish’s, but Commercial Director Paul Harper tells routeone that new vehicles in a 6×2 configuration have been bought for a specific need.
“The purchase of the tri-axle coaches is mostly to support our ever-expanding groups market,” he says. They are 55-seaters rather than the normal 51/53, but baggage storage is a further consideration.
“They are also able to carry more weight, which for large groups on a seven-night bowls tour, for example, is very useful due to the additional weight of the bowls bags our groups will bring along with their normal luggage,” adds Mr Harper.
He notes that ongoing fleet renewal “is both a strategic and ethical decision” for Daish’s Holidays. “This most recent investment… reflects our continued commitment to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to provide a great value experience that out guests expect.” All Daish’s coaches are Euro VI standard.
Daimler Buses UK has supplied the most recent arrivals, and they come with the standard suite of Tourismo safety functions. The coaches will be used to serve hotels across the Daish’s portfolio, from Newquay in Cornwall to Scarborough in North Yorkshire.
