The first 15 Yutong GT14 diesel tri-axle coaches are on schedule to arrive in the UK early this autumn and all are sold with more to follow, dealership Pelican Bus and Coach has said.
It announced the GT14 in October 2024, noting that the development builds on the success of the two-axle GT12. While an initial stock batch of 10 examples of the diesel tri-axle were first ordered, that was later upped to 15 following strong operator interest, adds UK Coach Sales Manager Simon Collins.
Based on that a further 10 GT14s have been ordered for delivery in the early part of 2026. Mr Collins says that the opening 15 for arrival from China this year have been sold to a mixture of customers, with some of those buyers being new to the Yutong brand and others basing their decisions on existing experience of its diesel coach products.
Standard in the GT14 will be 61 seats and a centre sunken toilet, although a 57-seat option direct from Yutong is possible. The GT14 is a 14m vehicle and it shares dimensions with the established battery-electric GTe14.
Power in the newcomer will be from a DAF MX-13 engine developing 483bhp coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox. When PSVAR compliant, the passenger lift will be above the rear bogie to give a claimed underfloor luggage capacity of 11 cubic metres.
Mr Collins underlines that the GT14 will have a lot in common with the smaller GT12, which has proven successful in many applications including scheduled service work for FlixBus partner operators as well as touring and private hire utilisation.
He was speaking at the recent Confederation of Passenger Transport Ride-and-Drive event at North Weald, where Pelican displayed stock examples of the GT12 and GTe14 and a smaller TC9 midicoach. Like others present, the Castleford dealership continues to see strong demand for new vehicles, Mr Collins concludes.
