North Holderness Community Transport has added a Mellor Strata low-floor minibus to its fleet. The vehicle is supporting growing demand for accessible transport across the Holderness area of the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The Strata low-floor was selected for its easily accessible design with a flat-floor section. Up to 16 seats are fitted, with the low-floor area having detachable positions, space for a wheelchair user, and room for walking aids, shopping bags, and prams.
Such flexibility makes the minibus well suited to Hornsea town services and door-to-door shopping routes. Also part of the specification are a front destination display, saloon heating, and a CCTV system. Seats each come with all-age three-point belts.
Speaking about the new arrival, North Holderness Community Transport Business Manager Caroline Wegrzyn says: “The drivers love it, and it makes their job a lot easier, particularly in the town centre where people are often travelling with shopping trollies and prams.
“Passengers really like it too; it is easy to get on and off, and feels light, airy and spacious inside.” Mellor vehicles now account for 22% of the operator’s fleet.
