Family operator Thornes Independent of Hemingbrough has added its first MCV Evora-bodied B8RLE, supplied by Volvo Bus UK and Ireland.

The 12.1m bus carries the business’s distinctive livery and it also comes with a cherished registration mark. Thornes Independent uses it on local bus routes in the Selby area, along with home-to-school contracts and some private hire.

Included in the specification are 46 seats and an audio-visual next stop announcement system. Driver response has been good, says Managing Director Jane Thornes.

“This is the first new Volvo Evora bus that Thornes has specified, and it is already hard at work serving the local community in different ways. It is a very welcome addition to our fleet,” adds Ms Thornes.

Commenting on the vehicle, Volvo Bus UK and Ireland Regional Account Manager Phil Hudson says: “Both Thornes and Volvo boast a proud heritage, with Thornes being able to trace its history back to 1949 when it was known as J H Thornes Coach Proprietor and Motor Engineer, and Volvo Bus UK and Ireland celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

“I am also delighted that the new Evora has received such positive feedback from those who drive it and those who ride on it.”
