The Go-Ahead Group has announced the appointment of former Director of Buses at Transport for London (TfL) Louise Cheeseman as a Non-Executive Director.

The well-respected industry leader will join the Board from 1 July as the business aims to further growth nationally and internationally and “ensure greater diversity in thinking”.

Having begun her career in rail, Ms Cheeseman led Hull Trains as Managing Director for more than four years from 2017. Her TfL Director of Buses role followed and took her up to retirement in January. She is Chair of Women in Bus and Coach, an initiative she founded last year.

Miguel Parras, Group CEO of Go-Ahead, says: “We are delighted to welcome Louise to her role on the Board of the Go-Ahead Group.

“Her knowledge and experience is unrivalled, and Louise will play a vital role in supporting our management team to deliver its strategic plan of growth, achieving our ambitious decarbonisation and equality targets, and most importantly, delivering on our mission of connecting people and communities across the globe, both today and tomorrow.”

Recent expansion by Go-Ahead includes numerous acquisitions of coach operators, such as those of Compass Royston, Esk Valley, Fourway Coaches and Procters Coaches, which were announced last month.
