The Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) has launched a mentoring platform aimed at fostering professional growth and collaboration among its members.

The new system connects experienced mentors with aspiring engineers across disciplines such as road transport, plant and environmental engineering. Students, apprentices and early-career engineers can use it to seek guidance from seasoned professionals, while the latter can share their expertise with the next generation.

The platform is powered by established supplier PLD Mentoring Software. It leverages “advanced matching technology” to pair mentors and mentees based on skills, interests and aspirations.

Over 90 engineering experts registered as mentors before the launch, while 30 mentors have already joined the platform.

“We’re thrilled to offer this platform as an additional benefit to our members,” says Robin Bates, Membership and Professional Standards Lead. “Mentorship is a cornerstone of professional growth, and by bringing together experts from all corners of engineering, we’re fostering a community that drives innovation and excellence.”
