Lothian Buses are hiring for a Chief Engineer to be based in Edinburgh.

Lothian is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all aspects of engineering across our sites, ensuring our vehicles are safe, reliable, and roadworthy. This is your opportunity to shape the future of public transport in line with our ambitious Net Zero targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Management: Oversee the maintenance and compliance of all vehicles and facilities across our fleet.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all operations adhere to Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV), DVSA, Traffic Commissioner, and Operator’s Licence regulations.
  • Sustainability: Drive initiatives that align our fleet and estates with Lothian’s sustainability objectives.
  • Leadership: Lead a high-performing engineering team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and resource optimisation.
  • Strategic Development: Support the Engineering Director in strategic planning and organisational growth.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven leadership and engineering experience, ideally within the transportation or public sector.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle operations, compliance, and industry regulations.
  • A passion for sustainability and achieving Net Zero goals.
  • A proactive, results-driven approach to team and resource management.

As Chief Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring that Lothian continues to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative public transport services.
