Coach industry’s answer to online banking: Ferdia launches smart customer portal

What if booking a coach trip was as easy as online banking? That’s the idea behind BusBusiness, a smart customer portal developed by Ferdia, a Scandinavian software company now expanding its footprint in the UK.

  • Faster quotes, easier bookings
  • Full trip overview
  • From Norway to the UK

Much like how online banking transformed customer interactions with financial institutions, BusBusiness aims to modernise how transport companies and their clients work together.

Faster quotes, easier bookings

With just one click, operators can invite customers to set up an account. From there, regular clients can request quotes or make bookings directly through the portal — particularly handy for those with repeat journeys or standard route requests.

Thanks to built-in Google Maps integration, customers can map out proposed journeys in seconds. Operators can also offer “predefined” packages, such as fixed pricing from any London airport to any hotel in the city.

Full trip overview

BusBusiness goes beyond bookings. Customers can log in to see the full history of completed trips — including actual arrival times — as well as all upcoming journeys. Real-time information like vehicle location and the assigned driver’s name is also available, giving both sides full visibility.

A Win for Customers and Operators

“The coach industry has fallen behind when it comes to making things easy for customers,” says Ferdia CEO Håkon Sæther. “BusBusiness is changing that. Just like online banking, it puts power in the hands of the user — while giving operators better margins and saving time on both sides.”

One of Ferdia’s users, Norwegian Travel, praises the platform: “It’s a huge strategic advantage. We’re now the only company in the Nordics that can manage our transportation at this level.”

According to Sæther, feedback like this shows how BusBusiness can create a real competitive edge: “Operators using it are not just simplifying admin; they’re offering something their customers genuinely want.”

From Norway to the UK

With successful rollouts already in Norway, Ferdia is now introducing its tools to the UK market, aiming to help operators modernise and streamline operations.

BusBusiness is part of a broader suite of cloud-based solutions from Ferdia, all designed with the same goal: helping coach companies work smarter and deliver better experiences.

• Teq – The modern coach operations system. Born in the cloud. Outperforms other systems on customer experience.

• BusNetwork – Seamless cooperation between coach companies. Portal and app to share trips and capacity. Digital process for settlement.

• BusBusiness – Self-service portal for repeating customers. Your customer can follow the entire operations online. It’s like online banking for the coach industry.

• Sharebus – Turning the booking process in the industry upside down. Set up a trip without financial risk, share the bus with people going the same direction.
