Edward Thomas and Son Coaches of Epsom has taken delivery of a Volvo B11R with Jonckheere JHV2 bodywork as part of an ongoing Euro VI upgrade programme. The vehicle will be utilised on a mix of private hire work and school contracts and it takes to 42 the number of Volvo coaches in the operator’s fleet.

The company was founded by Edward Thomas in 1947 and upon Mr Thomas’s death in 1973 control passed to his son Ivan. He remains in charge of the family business. Continued purchase of Volvo products is a result of “many years of positive experiences,” says Mr Thomas Jr.

Adds Volvo Bus UK Regional Sales Manager Oliver Walker: “I am delighted that Ivan has given us the opportunity to provide him with another new B11R Jonckheere. His loyalty to the Volvo brand and commitment to our partnership are appreciated by all at Volvo bus.

“It was a pleasure to hand over the vehicle to Ivan in our showroom at our coach sales site in Coventry. I wish him all the best for the rest of 2021 with his new vehicle.”

The coach comes with a D11K engine rated at 430bhp coupled to a 12-speed I-Shift automated manual gearbox. It has Volvo Dynamic Steering among other safety systems and is also equipped with a DVD player and two monitors, a reversing camera, a fridge and a boiler.
