Xplore Dundee launched its new fleet of 14 Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) Euro 6 hybrid double-decker buses into service on Sunday (2 December).

Mainly used on the National Express subsidiary’s route 22, they have been dubbed ‘Emerald’.

They have extra leg room, high-backed padded seats, USB ports, free Wi-Fi and audio/visual next-stop announcements.

MD Christine McGlasson says: “Around a third of our vehicles can now be classed as low emission. Seven more of our existing buses are to be retro-fitted with cleaner engines next year, so we are getting ready for Dundee’s Low Emission Zones and showing our commitment to reducing air pollution in our city.”

“We will continue to invest. We’ve already introduced smartcards, mobile ticketing and more modern vehicles. Next year will see us providing contactless payment with the addition of brand new ticket machines.”
