A look back at the year

It’s been a busy and yet fairly dramatic year for Alpine Travel.

We completed the acquisition of Jones Holidays in January, so 2017 saw us diversifying into the coach holiday market again, and the first year has been a good one and forecasts are that it is set to improve further.

At Alpine, the most radical change was our rebrand. Changing from our white base livery and traditional Welsh dragon to a new red livery complete with a brand new typeface and deconstructed dragon. All designed and created for us by MadHen design – it was a very brave step for us.

During 2017 we created the role of Marketing Manager – a real break with tradition that is now paying dividends, not only in how we are trading because this is still tough, but more to the point, how we are received when we talk to clients old and hopefully new.

Our drive to recruit younger blood into junior management roles is part of our succession planning strategy, with most of our senior management being 45-55 years of age

We are already planning for both their and my own retirement. It is something I believe too few people plan for or even contemplate.

Chris Owens,
Alpine Travel, Llandudno
