ADL to take on new Scarborough warehouse

Alexander Dennis (ADL) has announced it will lease a new 104,000 sq ft warehouse near its existing Scarborough site.

The manufacturer says the move will free up space to meet increased production demand for Alexander Dennis buses and Plaxton coaches.

It follows ADL’s plans announced in April to create a third manufacturing site by converting warehouse space at its Larbert headquarters.

ADL Group Operations Director John Clougherty says: “This is a major step forward for Alexander Dennis. The addition of substantial warehouse capacity in Scarborough is a crucial step in our modernisation journey.

“It mirrors the development activities under way at our sites in Falkirk and Larbert, consolidating site logistics to feed our production facilities on a just-in-time basis, freeing up the space necessary to support our process flow enhancement to drive significant improvements in capacity, quality and efficiency.”

ADL is ramping up UK manufacturing capabilities, including the development of two new production lines for its next generation of zero-emission buses.
