CMAC Group launches sustainability strategy

CMAC Group has unveiled a UK sustainability strategy targeted at achieving net-zero by 2045.

The ground transport supplier aims to have achieved carbon neutrality by the end of this year in relation to scope 1 (company owned petrol and diesel vehicles) and scope 2 (electricity usage in the office and electric car usage).

In order to meet its net-zero target, CMAC says it will aim to reduce its scope-3 (supply chain) impact by encouraging businesses it works with to transition to green vehicles and engaging with suppliers to drive sustainable innovation.

It says its strategy is built on four key pillars: energy efficiency; supply chain sustainability; engagement and education; and stakeholder collaboration.

CMAC, which this year acquired a majority stake in Coach Hire Comparison and announced a strategic partnership with CheckedSafe, aims to start planting trees in 2024 to offset its vehicle emissions. Also among its plans for the next five years is allowing customers to book low-emissions vehicles.

Neil Micklethwaite, Chief Operating Officer at CMAC Group, says: “I am delighted to publish our new Sustainability Strategy. The climate crisis is one of the most significant challenges of our lifetime, and we are making a clear commitment to continue the pathway of reducing emissions and protecting our environment for future generations.

“At CMAC, we recognise our responsibility as a key international player transportation and accommodation, and this strategy reflects our dedication to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our business. By setting ambitious targets, we aim to lead by example and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.”
