Over 80 coach tour operator members of the Coach Tourism Association (CTA) attended its summer networking event between 24-26 July, the first one to be held in Glasgow. CTA quickly reported that the gathering “is set to generate new business” for those operators following its conclusion.

The event was supported by VisitScotland and hosted at the Crown Plaza hotel. A reception hosted by Glasgow City Council Bailie Thomas Kerr was part of proceedings, while the Scotland Workshop involved over 20 suppliers from across the country. Familiarisation visits to attractions were also part of the itinerary.

Says Robert Shaw (pictured), CTA Chair and Director of Coventry operator Harry Shaw: “Coach operators learned about new attractions that many of them hadn’t previously engaged with. The event should give CTA members plenty of inspiration for new itineraries to the Glasgow region and the rest of Scotland.

“Special thanks to Visit Scotland for helping with us the event. CTA would also like to thank the host attractions, including the workshop suppliers, for their support.

“Thanks also to the operator and wholesaler members that attended the event. The business generation potential of summer networking in Glasgow showed another reason why coach tour operators should join CTA.”
