Freeway Fleet Systems is offering coach and bus operators free consultations for DVSA’s Earned Recognition (ER) scheme.

  • ER planned to go fully digital by 2022
  • Why go for Earned Recognition?

The ER assessment looks at a company’s existing systems and processes and requires operators to submit digital reports to DVSA showing compliance under key performance indicators (KPIs). The consultations provide advice on steps operators need to take to achieve accreditation.

ER planned to go fully digital by 2022

DVSA plans to make the maintenance KPI reporting process fully electronic from April 2022.

This would require data to be entered directly onto a tablet, laptop or smartphone at time of inspection and may require a driver walk-round check and defect reporting system using an electronic device.

Freeway offers software to meet that demand, and keeps check on maintenance records and displays colour-coded alarm status if compliance data is missing.

The software automatically generates lists showing items that need to be addressed in order to meet the five ER KPIs, and is even available as a mobile app – Fleet in your Pocket – which gives fleet managers instant smartphone access to KPI data without the need to be in the office.

“For ER you’ll need a system to report digitally,” says Freeway Managing Director Patrick Tandy. “It’s not just about reports, however; the right system will ensure good practice, so compliance simply becomes an assured outcome.

“Freeway has worked in tandem with DVSA to develop a system suitable for everyone. It’s a complete maintenance management solution to ensure compliance is right on track from start to finish.”

Why go for Earned Recognition?

DVSA says ER status comes with a number of benefits, including reduced enforcement scrutiny and cost savings.

Freeway’s one-hour video link consultations can be requested via the Freeway website.
