Go North East’s X5 and X15 express routes serving Shotley Bridge, Consett, Leadgate, Delves, Lanchester, Witton Gilbert and Durham have been upgraded as part of Go North East’s premium interurban X-lines brand.

Wright StreetDeck double-deck buses with free wi-fi, USB charging points, power plugs, next-stop audio-visual announcements and tables on the upper decks will now operate across the route.

The upgrade follows a £4.5m investment into the operator’s Consett to Newcastle express service.

Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director at Go North East, says: “We’re delighted to introduce our comfortable, stylish, premium, interurban X-lines brand to these routes.

“We’re committed to ensuring our buses are as clean, safe and comfy as they possibly can be, and these upgraded buses provide a high quality and productive environment for everyone, allowing affordable and sustainable luxury travel.”
