Jason Edwards, Owner and Managing Director of Jason Edwards Travel, has become the first representative from the coach sector to be appointed to the Board of RHA.
The trade body , which numbers more than 200 coach members with three thousand vehicles declared, has around 8,500 members from the haulage sector.
RHA, which opened its services to coach operators in 2020, says the appointment shows a growing commitment to the sector. Sixteen Directors currently sit on the Board.
Mr Edwards, whose career began with 13 years at British Airways and GE as an aircraft engineer, worked for the family business Edwards Coaches in Llantrisant for two decades.
In 2023, he set up Jason Edwards Travel in Pontypridd, which operates National Express scheduled services from Heathrow, as well as coach tours and hires.
As well as being vice chair of the Coach Tourism Association, he served as High Sheriff of Mid Glamorgan and last year gained his CPC as an International Transport Manager (PSV).
Richard Smith, Managing Director of the RHA, says: “We’re delighted to welcome Jason to the RHA Board. He brings a wealth of industry experience, a strong entrepreneurial mindset, and a clear passion for the coach and travel sector.
“His appointment ensures the coach industry have a strong voice in our leadership. This is a major step forward in broadening the RHA’s representation across all corners of road transport.”
Mr Edwards adds: “It’s a real honour to join the RHA Board and represent both the coach industry and all Welsh road transport operators.
“I’m passionate about delivering great service and helping the industry thrive – and I look forward to working alongside colleagues to ensure our sector’s voice is heard, valued and supported.”
