JG Travel Group has hosted over 100 coach drivers from partner operators at its Driver’s Academy programme of training seminars during the first three months of 2024.

The work is now in its 13th year and was held at JG Travel Group’s Cheltenham head office ahead of the start of the main coach tourism season.

The business notes that the programme was completed shortly ahead of National Coach Week 2024, which will commence on Monday 8 April and major on the importance of people to the coach industry.

Part of the training focused on the JG Explorer brand, which will launch in May. Driving teams for those vehicles have been selected by the operators that will run them, and what JG Travel Group describes as “exciting new features” were part of the courses.

Other matters covered were tour planning, coach and driver presentation, customer service, and communications across each of the Group’s three brands.

Speaking about the coach driver training, JG Travel Group Director of Operations Paul Mason says: “Our Driver’s Academy continues to go from strength to strength, and this was our biggest programme of seminars to date.

“National Coach Week this year will major on the importance of people in our industry, and for us, drivers play a pivotal role in the delivery of our products. These sessions are so important in ensuring that they have all the skills needed to deliver our customer experience to the highest standards.

“Over the last three months, we hosted over 100 drivers at our HQ in Cheltenham and it is always so heartening to see how engaged they are with our teams and how eager they are to learn. Many of the drivers of our new JG Explorer coaches attended this year, adding an extra level of excitement for some.”
