Lloyds Coaches of Machynlleth has taken delivery of three Scania Irizar i6-bodied coaches following the successful trial of a Scania demonstration vehicle at the end of 2019.

They are the first coaches of their kind to enter service with the Welsh operator. They are built on Scania’s K 360 IB4X2 chassis and are fitted with 53 seats, wood-effect flooring, on-board vacuum cleaners and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels.

Each of the vehicles has been specified with PSVAR with wheelchair lift conversions undertaken by Irizar. They will now be used on a variety of work including home-to-school contracts, rail replacement duties, day trips and private hire.

Says Lloyds Coaches Director Dan Lloyd: “We are very happy with the purchase of these three Scania Irizars. They have been finished to a very high standard and are helping us move forward in providing lower emissions and wheelchair accessible coaches in our fleet.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Richard Austin, our Scania Bus and Coach Regional Account Manager, for such a professional approach and for the smooth sale and handover. We hope these Scania coaches will be the first of many and look forward to working with Mr Austin and Scania in the future.”
