Marshalls of Leighton Buzzard last week marked its 50th anniversary by announcing receipt of two new Yutong GT12 coaches, supplied by Pelican Bus and Coach.

The PSVAR-compliant 53-seaters will be used mainly on tour work and rail replacement, adding to the operator’s fleet of more than 40 vehicles.

Power comes from a DAF MX11 450bhp Euro-VI engine, accompanied by a ZF 6-speed fully automatic gearbox.

Glen Marshall, Partner in the business, who handled the deal with Pelican Area Manager Lee McMahon, says: “We needed more PSVAR-compliant vehicles. We’ve always got on well DAF engines. Yutongs has been around for a quite a few years now and are well established globally so I felt I could trust the brand.”

Fellow Marshalls Partner Dean Marshall adds: “They’re comfortable, the passengers like them and the drivers say they’re nice to drive. They’re a good-quality product.”

Also in attendance at the celebration were Fred and Sheila Marshall, parents of Dean and Glen who founded the business, and Leighton Buzzard Mayor David Bligh.
