Optare fleet enters service in Derry

Derry City’s bus network has been relaunched. Operating across 14 corridors on a simplified route network, the service features an eye-catching new-look red bus fleet and attractive timetable.

The striking fleet represents a £3m investment comprising 19 brand new Optare Versas and a 20 refurbished buses to ensure the entire service – branded Foyle Metro – is looking smart.

At the launch of Foyle Metro on Friday 1 September 2017, (L-R) Tim Matthews, Optare Head of Sales, Maolíosa McHugh, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Translink Group Chief Executive, Chris Conway with Technical Manager at Translink, Brian Elliot

As part of the launch celebrations, a £2 all-day ticket (child £1) is available throughout September.

There is a range of enhanced connections to shops, amenities, schools, hospital and airport services along with improved integration with Goldline Express and NI Railways services.
