The DVSA’s PSV and HGV and inspection manuals will change on 20 May 2018 when the EU Roadworthiness Directive is introduced.

The DVSA has now published draft versions of the new manuals and is inviting feedback on the style of the drafts and how easy they are to use.

The changes include:

– Defects are now categorised as minor, major and dangerous

– Definition of insecure amended

– Definition of unsafe modification added

– Emissions testing standards amended

– Standard for view of the road amended

– Numerous additions in lighting section

– Formatting and layout

The draft versions could change before the directive is introduced, says the DVSA.

You should email your feedback to [email protected] by 28 February.
