RHA extends Benevolent Fund scope to non-members

RHA has expanded the scope of its charitable Benevolent Fund to additionally capture those people who are associated with the road transport industry but are not members of the trade body.

The move represents a change from a previous policy that saw assistance targeted at members of the Association, their staff and families, although RHA notes that funds will still be “mostly used to help people who have a connection to RHA and our membership.”

Details of the scope of the Benevolent Fund can be found on the RHA website, but it is intended to assist people facing financial pressures. Such difficulties have escalated under the current cost of living crisis, the trade body continues.

RHA notes that help towards the purchase of food and clothing, paying bills, funding for training, assistance equipment and essential home improvements, and travel expenses for hospital visits are examples of how the Benevolent Fund has previously helped people.

Applying for support involves the submission of various information. RHA undertakes fundraising work for the Fund, and it also accepts donations on a one-off or regular basis. Information around both processes can be found on the above link.

RHA members are currently being encouraged to spread word of the scheme around the industry, including via social media posts.

As an example of the benefits to the coach sector that the Benevolent Fund has already delivered, one driver who had encountered some unexpected bills and personal problems recently received a significant donation that was paid directly to their energy supplier.
