Roy McCarthy Coaches has taken delivery of another Plaxton Leopard from Alexander Dennis (ADL), adding to the nine Plaxton Leopard or Plaxton Panther vehicles the operator has bought in the last eight years.
The latest coach is 12.2m-long with 57 seats in a 2+2 arrangement.
The Macclesfield operator intends to use it on private hires as well as school contracts.
Roy McCarthy Coaches has been in business since 1971 and its first new coach, in 1986, was a Plaxton Paramount on Bedford YNT chassis. The operator still uses it as a heritage vehicle and on occasional school contracts.
Max McCarthy, who is among of the third generation of McCarthys running the business, says: “Plaxton has always been a great choice for our fleet and the Plaxton Leopard has been particularly well suited thanks to the range of customisations available, not least the availability of this 12.2m shorter wheelbase option, which has allowed us to choose increased manoeuvrability without a significant penalty on passenger capacity.”
