Welsh coach family shares its lockdown journey with Benny the Bus

A family-run coach operator in Narberth, Wales, has told its personal lockdown tale through a children’s story book.

Benny the Bus (Welsh: Benny y Bws) is the creation of Phoebe and Ezmee Mason, daughters of Darren and Gemma Mason of Narberth Travel in Pembrokeshire. It has been published and can be ordered through the operator.

The book tells the story of Benny, a school bus who, in March 2020, notices the other coaches in the fleet (which includes Dennis the Distance Bus, Cecil the Coach, Annie the Airport Bus and the rest of the gang) parked up and feeling sad. Benny begins to express concern about the schoolchildren’s safety and wonders when life will return back to normal.

“As a family we wanted to document the effect of lockdown so together created a children’s story book that is personal to us and our business,” says Narberth Travel. “It has been beautifully illustrated by Phoebe and Ezmee who both enjoy art and took their time in producing each page of the book.”

Money raised through each sale will help the NHS. [email protected] to obtain a copy.
