Simon Mathieson, who was based in the city as MD East for Arriva, has been promoted to a new role developing business for Arriva across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

He has been appointed to Business Development Director and will focus upon high volume commercial enterprises, maximising the opportunities that exist within local authority contracts and developing innovative mobility solutions.

Simon will also be working on ensuring that Arriva continues its commitment to making the bus as environmentally friendly as possible by working with key partners to help cities meet their clean air challenges.

Simon says: “Public transport and the bus sector in particular is a challenging and fast-moving environment and I am delighted to be given this key strategic role to seek and expand new business initiatives for Arriva Midlands.

“We are constantly looking at opportunities to develop the services we can offer to our customers and I am looking forward to taking on my new position.”

Simon has been Arriva Managing Director – East, since 2013, having previously worked for a number of other bus companies across the UK.
