Ipswich Buses has named Dan Bassett (pictured) as its incoming Managing Director. Mr Bassett will  join in May to succeed Heath Williams in the role and move from fellow municipal operator Reading Buses, where he is currently Service Delivery Director.

Mr Williams will retire from the Suffolk business at that point, with Mr Bassett stepping in to lead 150 buses and take responsibility for 80 vehicles.

Speaking about his appointment with Ipswich Buses, Mr Bassett says: “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead a focused and dedicated team of individuals, who can play such a vital role in keeping the wider community of Ipswich connected.

“As we move into the future, buses will play an increasingly important role in keeping Ipswich moving as part of an integrated and sustainable transport system that is easy to use. We cannot underestimate the positive impact that strong public transport links have in enabling the local economy.

“I am really looking forward to joining Ipswich Buses and continuing its rich, 120-year history of delivering for its customers and contributing to the success of the town.”
