Irizar UK Sales Manager to tackle charity ride

Irizar UK Area Sales Manager Stuart Smithson is helping third-world transport problems by tackling one himself – a 240-mile cycle ride from London to Paris.

No sooner had Stuart Smithson joined the Irizar UK sales team than he'd pledged to  take on a grueller of a charity ride

Stuart, who recently joined the sales team at the Worksop-based dealership, will be getting his head down for the four-day ride.

Says Stuart: “I'll have to cover 80 miles a day – the equivalent of Coventry to London – three times.”

Irizar UK has set the ball rolling with an £800 donation, but Stuart says even a modest donation will help speed him on his way and at the same time, help Africa solve transport problems – even training bus drivers, and helping people get work.

“The charity, Transaid, has already helped farmers get crops to market, and the sick to reach medical care,” says Stuart.

“It is making African roads safer by training drivers, and with reliable transport, helping trade to provide Africans with sustainable jobs. It's a great cause, and highly relevant to our industry.”
