Arriva Area Director Midlands North, Rob Cheveaux, 54, died on 27 January. He had been battling cancer for a number of years and was undergoing an operation to aid treatment, during which he died.

Born in Merseyside, he joined Cowie (rebranded Arriva in 1997) as an apprentice in its car dealership business. In 1986, aged 23, Rob left Cowie to become a Merseyside PTE bus driver at Gillmoss depot. In 1994 he was promoted to a driving instructor at what by then had become MTL, which was bought by Arriva in 2000.

Further management promotions saw him move around various posts in the north west and north Wales, eventually becoming Runcorn GM in 2007, and in 2013 Area MD Midlands North. He lived in North Wales with his partner Angela, and also leaves his son, David, and stepdaughters.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
