VDL Bus and Coach has appointed Richard van den Dungen as Commercial Director. He joined the Dutch OEM on 1 December 2022 and succeeds Marcel Jacobs, who has taken up the position of Chief Business Officer at Matisse Pharmaceuticals.

Mr van den Dungen arrives at VDL from Swiss business Oerlikon Surface Solutions, where he was responsible for all commercial activities for around 10 years.

VDL says that experience will stand him in good stead for his new role, which will major on management “of the commercial organisation at home and abroad, among other things with the aim of securing and improving long-term customer satisfaction.”

Part of those responsibilities will see Mr van den Dungen maintain close contact with VDL Bus and Coach’s national sales organisations, which are located in 13 countries including the UK.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr van den Dungen says: “I am really looking forward to making a difference in the world of mobility together with customers, new colleagues and partners.

“VDL Bus and Coach is a great company with great products, and it has a strong market position. It is my honour to further expand and strengthen this position through our commercial organisation.”
