Sittingbourne operator Chalkwell has upgraded the wi-fi offering on its bus network through a partnership with FleetConnect. 11 of the supplier’s systems will be deployed on buses serving the Kent town and nearby communities.

Chalkwell Managing Director Roland Eglinton (pictured, right) says that there remains a strong demand for wi-fi on the operator’s bus services.

“People are looking for the best connectivity as part of the journey, whether that is to school, work, shopping, or anything else,” he continues.

“From the initial discussions with FleetConnect, I was very impressed with its knowledge and attention to detail – plus it is a local business. Nationwide providers have their place, but as an SME operator, we felt that this was a good fit. So far, we have been really impressed.”

FleetConnect joined the UK market in 2024 having delivered wi-fi services in Ireland for 15 years. It says that the system offered “was developed to allow passengers to stay connected while travelling on a coach or bus.” The supplier is working with several other transport providers here.
