The importance of correct tyre pressure

The simple matter of maintaining correct tyre pressures is one of the most important factors in ensuring maximum operational economy from a vehicle.

This relatively easy task helps to ensure that not only do tyres achieve maximum mileage, but also that fuel is not wasted; the result being optimised cost per kilometre and maximum return on investment related to tyres. In other words, wrong tyre pressures cost money.

So what affects tyre pressure?  The lack of regular maintenance or poor maintenance are common causes of tyre pressures being wrong.  Regular checks not only ensure that correct operating conditions are maintained but also warn if there is a problem that needs addressing.

Tyre maintenance programs, such as Goodyear’s TruckForce service solution, are available. This puts the responsibility into the hands of experts who can manage all of a fleet’s tyre requirements. Not only does this save money, but also provides peace of mind for fleet operators.
