Timespace Technology has developed a built-in blurring tool to enable operators to carry out in-house face or object blurring on CCTV footage, avoiding the need for third-party specialists.

The tool is included in the free upgrade of PCLink v8.0, which is Timespace’s proprietary software for vehicle CCTV playback and review.

Face or object blurring is often required when operators respond to Police footage requests, and using third-party companies can add time and cost.

Users can now blur single or multiple objects or section of footage and they can choose the type of blurring and the characteristics of the final image.

Says Technical Manager Peter Barker: “Enabling operators and CCTV managers to carry out blurring in-house will save time when responding to requests, and it will also eliminate the cost of using specialists.

“Fleet managers retain complete control of sensitive footage, and the reduced need for compression when transferring files will result in higher-quality final images to use in investigations and claims.”

PCLink is compatible with Timespace’s entire range of digital vehicle recorders (DVRs). The blurring tool is supported for the X200, X300, V400 and V500 DVRs.
